Grace Dubery Yoga
A true global citizen, Grace was born and raised in Lisbon, and relocated to Canada with her family in 1997. She discovered yoga in 2002 while studying at McGill University in Montreal, and has been teaching in Toronto since 2006.
In 2007, she completed her Political Science and African studies degree in Kenya, and it  was there she first experienced how yoga creates community and provides profound healing in a fragmented world.
While trained and experienced in a number of styles, Grace’s teaching is rooted in a deep personal exploration of the Ashtanga Vinyasa system. Using a non-dogmatic approach, Grace views the teacher as the bridge between the student and the practice, remembering that the ultimate goals of yoga were never meant to be confined to the mat. The physical practices of yoga are a gateway, not an end themselves. An individual’s journey inward must ultimately lead back outward, to engagement with the community. This realization inspired her to deepen her commitment to development projects, both locally and abroad.
Through One Love Toronto and other initiatives and collaborations, Grace has raised close to $50,000 for different community projects. In 2011, she traveled to South Africa with Off the Mat, Into the World ® supporting health and education programs that provide tools and resources for the prevention of HIV/AIDS.
In 2013, Grace became an ambassador for Lolë Women, and was chosen to lead the Lolë White Yoga Tour in Toronto and Paris - an event that brings together thousands of people for uplifting yoga sessions dedicated to peace.
That same year, she returned to Kenya to work with Africa Yoga Project, in the delivery and implementation of their yoga programming in the country.
In 2016, she was the recipient of a Notable Award in the inaugural category of Best Yoga Teacher, in Canada.
Grace relocated to New York City where continues to teach and study at Kula Yoga Project, Yoga Shanti and Sky Ting. Her classes can also be found online at Yoga Today. She organizes retreats worldwide at Heart Soul Retreat.
